The Break Down of Olaplex

Everything you need to know ..

If your hair is straight, curly, dry, frizzy, coloured or natural then Olaplex is perfect for you! In fact Olaplex is perfect for anyone and everyone.

The idea behind Olaplex is to create healthy manageable hair so you can achieve your dream style. Olaplex contains an ingredient called bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate (also known as bond builders) which is a bond multiplier that encourages the bonds in your hair to reconnect. It also is the beginning of the process to prevent further damage and starts to repair the hair.

You may look at the range and think, “jeez, that’s a lot of steps” but we’re going to break it down for you.

In salon treatments

In salon we supply steps 1 and 2. These can be used in your colour or as a stand-alone treatment.

The no. 1 contains 100% bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate. When it’s used in colour or bleach, it stops the hair from further damage or snapping. When used in a stand-alone treatment, the no. 1 is placed on your hair first to give it the maximum hit.

No. 2 is the conditioning treatment. Not only does it contain 15% bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate but it also gives you a boost of moisture to further repair the hair cuticle.

Home maintenance

No. 0

The very first step to beginning the hair journey with Olaplex at home is no. 0.

No. 0 contains 3% bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate and this is placed on dry hair through the ends and left on for 10 minutes.

The idea of no. 0 is to saturate the hair and open up all the bonds to prepare the hair for the next step. Using no. 0 allows maximum results for the whole process.

You hair is most vulnerable when it’s wet so adding the bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate to the mix is creating a perfect opportunity for the no. 3 to burry itself in your hair cuticle.

No. 3

Which brings us to the next product, No. 3.

No. 3 is known as the hair perfector. This treatment goes onto damp hair, or after no. 0, and is left on for a minimum of 10 minutes.

TIP: The no. 0 can also be slept in but ensure you wrap your hair up to keep it damp throughout the night so it doesn’t stop processing.

The hair perfector is an intense treatment with 12% bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate, that reaches into the hair cuticle to repair and strengthen the hair from the inside out.

No. 4

After you’ve left the no. 0 and 3 sit for the recommended time, you now get to shampoo yourself hair, twice.

The olaplex bond maintenance shampoo, no. 4, is perfect for all hair types and not only continues to repair and strengthen the hair but also nourishes it.

An awesome benefit of the olaplex shampoo is that unlike most shampoos, you do not need much product at all. The old saying ‘a little goes a long way’ is definitely true.

No. 5

After you have shampooed your hair twice, it’s now time to restore that moisture with the Olaplex Bond Maintenance Conditioner, no. 5.

This conditioner needs to be left on for 3 minutes so now is the perfect time to wash the body, the face, shave your legs etc.

The no. 5 restores, repairs and nourishes the hair without adding the excess weight. It also eliminates damage and frizz for strong, healthy looking, shiny hair.

No. 6 and No. 7

The no. 6 and no. 7 are the best combo for adding in the moisture, shine, and heat protectant for anything up to 450F/230C.

The no. 6 is design to strengthen, moisturise and nourish and also reduces the blow drying time while smoothing. It also reduces frizz and flyaways for up to 72 hours.

The no. 7 is the bonding oil that can be used by itself or mixed with no. 6. It reduces frizz and flyaways, extends colour and renews vibrancy. It also has the same benefit as no. 6 with reducing the drying time.

No. 8

Olaplex’s newest product is the bond intense moisture mask, no. 8. This rinse out treatment adds moisture to the hair, makes it smooth while adding body and shine. This mask should replace the conditioner at least once a week to give you that boost of moisture.

The moisture mask will give you the deepest repair possible when paired with the no. 0 and the no. 3 treatment.

Conclusion

That was a lot of information to take in but to break it down in a routine for you,

No. 1 and no. 2 are to be done in the salon as a stand-alone treatment or in your colour roughly every 6 weeks.

No 0, no. 3, and no. 8 you should use once a week.

No. 4 and no. 5 will be your everyday shampoo and conditioner.

No. 6 and no. 7 should be used every time you wash your hair before blow drying it.

All products can be bought in store and in packs.
